Treating thinning hair with PRP injections is one way to avoid surgical routes like hair transplants, while seeing real results. The treatment is all-natural, using the restorative properties in the patient’s own blood to promote the healing of hair follicles and stimulate rejuvenation in the scalp. That means that when the hair is restored and grows back in, it does so naturally.
Some of the causes for hair loss that we treat include:
- Male pattern baldness
- Female pattern baldness
- Certain types of alopecia (like areata and traction)
- Changes in hormones
- Chemotherapy & other treatments (if hair hasn’t regrown after)
There are so many causes for hair loss in both men and women, and PRP injections can help with most of them. One of the main contenders is genetics, which makes up a huge portion of those suffering from male pattern baldness, where the front of the head or the top of the head thin out and become bald.
Changing hormones also contribute majorly to female pattern baldness (a general thinning of the hair all over the head) and to male baldness as well.
At Washington Care Clinic, we focus on the root of the problem. By giving the scalp what it needs to heal itself, the cells can be rehydrated and repair themselves. PRP injections for hair restoration have been proven effective in many cases, both with reversing thinning hair and receding hairlines in both men and women.

What to Expect
The PRP process is an outpatient procedure that usually takes less than an hour, and results are often visible within as little as 1-2 months.
When you arrive for your appointment, we will prep the scalp for treatment and take a small sample of blood from your arm. The vial of blood gets spun at a high speed in a machine called a centrifuge that separates the red blood cells from the plasma and white blood cells.
This thick, golden serum of platelets and all of the healing components within is then injected into the scalp, where it is most needed. The cytokines, proteins, peptides, and other elements get to work immediately, helping to signal the body to begin the healing process and begin restoring the damaged cells in that area.
Most patients feel minimal discomfort, as the procedure is minimally invasive, and a topical anesthetic can be used to keep you comfortable. You won’t have to worry about rejection from the body as it’s your own blood. There is also no downtime to worry about; most patients are able to resume their normal activities immediately following the procedure.
